CLEAN JEWELLERY NATURALLY

HOW TO CLEAN GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE HANDCRAFTED JEWELLERY NATURALLY

@ Liplivivé we care for our environment and we would recommend to use these cleaning and polishing methods

clean jewellery naturally, according to Liplivive by quirine van nispen, handcrafted jewelleryTARNISH

we love that sterling silver, brass and gold are naturally soft metals react to;

perspiration, perfumes, oils, cosmetics and household chemicals. and creates a tarnish. it adds character and therefore our handcrafted jewellery are uncoated .

if tarnishing occurs on the jewels you don’t agree with; polish with a soft cloth or a jewellery cleaning cloth. or clean it using this cleaning method ;

CLEAN JEWELLERY NATURALLY METHOD

1   start by soaking the piece for 15 minutes in warm water with mild dish wash detergent. and clean with a soft brush. old toothbrush works quit good (:

2        *BRONZE; lay for a few hrs in a warm bath with epsom salt and some lemon slices added. not to hot as the bronze will darken by close to boiling water

           *SILVER for around 15 minutes in a warm bath with baking soda and aluminum foil

           *GOLD does not need an extra bath.

3   rinse the pendant and brush again with the soft brush to wash it clean of the cleaning products used.

4   the pendant will come out bright and clear

5   after the jewellery is dry, polish thoroughly with a soft cloth

6   and you will see it will shine like water again

7   as bronze tarnishes quickly we would recommend to store the jewel back in the box. nice and dark. or…
leave it out and see how this time the tarnish will develop (:

THE TARNISHED LOOK

lots of our customers love the natural tarnish develop, with bronze the piece darkens and the little greens that might appear in the cracks. with silver the nerves that become dark gray/black.

these in combination with the by skin or clothes polished highlights are giving it character. it feels to me as if it growing or shaping with you.

i love seeing customers who have been wearing Liplivivé for a while now. because i love to see how the jewellery has developed. every time it is an interesting difference.

 its like its telling u your story

have fun with it and have a beautiful day from Liplivivé, sculptured jewellery

i really enjoyed studying these water dragons. their skin i find amazing. how it sort of falls down. and also a water dragons tail….. so elegant!!

ANSWER TO MY QUESTION WHERE THE DRAGON IS IN THE COLDER MONTHS STAYS

i copied this from the australian museum website as i find it an interesting fact about what they do in winter when you don’t see them sun backing on the rocks;

water dragons are usually active in the sydney region from september to june. and becoming inactive during the cooler months. to survive the low winter temperatures water dragons will enter established burrows or scrape their own between boulders and logs in or near riverbanks. and pack dirt into the opening therefor seal themselves off. once entombed they will slow their metabolism and enter a state of brumation until spring arrives.

you can read more about the australian water dragon on te australian museum page here or buy our sterling silver dragon in our online boutique

have a beautiful day (:
